Yesterday I thought was going to be the day...you know what I mean, the day that I get all of the house work done.  The day I cook a great family dinner that everyone eats without complaint, the day my kids get along.  Well I didn't get the housework done, I cooked and everyone complained, and my kids argued all evening.  That's OK.  I'm trying to be greatful about the little things that go right rather than dwelling on the things that don't.

I didn't use the TV babysitter all day  :)  I was very clever in cutting a hole in an empty diaper box and Benjamin spent hours with a bag of potatoes dropping them into the box and then pulling them out and putting them back into the bag.

Every time Benjamin asked for a snack (at least a dozen times) we chose healthy snacks like fruit, veggies and cheese over Halloween candy.  I only had to manage one meltdown.  It's definately time for me to start trying to avoid the Halloween candy...I must have snuck 4 little chocolate bars before lunch  :(

At lunch time I made myself an awesome squash soup.

For dinner I made Shepperd's Pie.  I love Shepperd's Pie, but my kids don't.  I try not to let it get to me...I'm still hopeful that the day will come when they just eat already!!

Today wasn't perfect, but I'm OK with that.  I'll just remember the potato box and the squash soup and move on.  Today is going to be a great day.

Today is Sunday...a good a day as any to start a new blog.

My name is Laura and I am a proud mummy to daughter Jamie (9) daughter Taylor (6) son Benjamin (2) and son Jeremy (3 months).  All 4 of my children are beautiful, smart, funny and kind.  My youngest son has Down Syndrome.  We were surprised by Jeremy's diagnosis but are hopeful that he will lead a rewarding life...the same hope we have for all of our children.  We are slowly learning more and more about Down Syndrome and I plan to use this blog to share new info with friends and family.

I am a super busy mummy and enjoy shuttling the kids to swimming lessons, gymnastics and dance classes as well as soccer practice and playdates.  My kids often seem over programmed but they love every activity they attend.  Considering both my husband and I are somewhat quiet people, our 3 oldest children have very loud, outgoing personalities.  Mabee Jeremy will be the quiet one...we'll see.

I insist on cooking creative food despite the fact that my kids and husband are picky eaters.  I try to use whole foods, and lots of veggies.  Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of food waste in our house beacause I refuse to cook hotdogs, or peanut butter sandwiches.  I am convinced that eventually they will come around.

I suck at housework, although I keep trying hard  :)

I really dislike the TV and try to entertain my little people in fun and sometimes strange ways to avoid sitting them in front of the tube.  I love my family and wouldn't change my life for anything.  My hope is that this blog will help me to appreciate the little things.

Until next time.
